RAW Supershow Results 04.16.12

Tonight's RAW Supershow comes to us live from the O2 Arena in London as J.R. and King welcome us to the show. We open with CM Punk making his way down to the ring for his Semifinal Match. Punk has a mic so we'll be hearing more of an explanation regarding what happened in the main event last week.

Punk says he has absolutely no clue why Brock Lesnar came to his aid last week, but insists that he didn't need it. Punk says the only logical explanation he can think of is that Lesnar clearly wants the glory of accomplishing the one thing he didn't accomplish while he was here last time; and that's to end the Streak and figured that this was the best way to get the Deadman's attention. Punk says despite the fact that he mentioned Lesnar in the promo that changed everything last Summer, he has very little use for the "Next Big Thing" and says that the only thing either one of them has in common is that they were both disciples and followers of the bible according to Heyman.

Punk tells Lesnar that if it makes him feel any better, he is more than welcome to step up to the plate and challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship after Punk leaves Chicago with it on April 29. Punk says he doesn't give a damn what is on the docket for Lesnar and whatever is going on between he, Cornette and the McMahon family at Extreme Rules but wants them all to understand one thing. Once the World Heavyweight Championship is draped over his shoulder, it doesn't matter who's running the show, who the chairman is, or who thinks they own the ring; Punk answers to no one but the WWE Universe. Miz' music hits and he makes his way out for the match.

CM PUNK def. THE MIZ to advance to the World Championship Match at Extreme Rules

Another back and forth thriller as The Miz counters the GTS into a Skull Crushing Finale attempt. Punk fights out, responds with a beautifully executed Asai DDT and seamlessly floats over into the Anaconda Vice. After several minutes of struggling, The Miz taps out, sending CM Punk to the World Heavyweight Championship Match at Extreme Rules.

After the match, Camp Cornette raids the ring and beats down CM Punk. Lesnar directs traffic as Ziggler, Rhodes and Barrett all hit their finishers. Brock tosses a steel chair into the ring and Barrett sets it up for The Miz to drill Punk with a Skull Crushing Finale across the chair. The Miz joins the foursome, arms raised in victory as the fifth member of Camp Cornette going into Extreme Rules. Lesnar playfully slaps Punk across the face as the squad leaves devastation in the ring.

Up next is the next Triple Threat Match en route to the Six Pack Challenge Match at Extreme Rules. Still to come tonight, fallout on Triple H’s fate after the events of last week’s acts of fury. We go to commercial.

Back from break as R-Truth and Ted DiBiase make their way to the ring. As Mason Ryan goes to enter, he’s jumped on the entrance ramp by Camp Cornette. Orchestrating their second assault of the evening, Barrett leads the way as Rhodes, Ziggler and Miz pick the bones, ending with Wasteland on the steel grate.

Barrett grabs a mic and explains that Truth and DiBiase can have their match next week to determine which one is more irrelevant and with the help of his surrounding army drives them both from the ring. Barrett acknowledges that they are in London tonight and while it’s small potatoes in comparison with his hometown of Manchester, there is no way he’s leaving his homeland without a match this week on RAW. Barrett issues a challenge to the first superstar to walk through the curtains that he may make an example of them. Evan Bourne wastes little time in answering the call. The bell rings and we are under way.

EVAN BOURNE def. WADE BARRETT when MASON RYAN interfered

Finish came as Barrett set up for Wasteland. SHAWN MICHAELS came down the entrance ramp with a lawn chair and a beer helmet--loaded down with Earl Grey Tea. HBK sets up at ringside and Barrett contests his appearance. As the ref turns his attention to Michaels at ringside, MASON RYAN, who has recovered from the earlier beatdown, jumps up on the ring apron and lambastes Barrett with a vicious lariat. Bourne lands on his feet and ascends the top rope to execute Air Bourne and log the three count.

After the match, HBK shrugs it off, folds up the lawn chair and throws it in to the ring. HBK then smashes the chair over Barrett’s face, with surprisingly successful results. Michaels polishes the by now-humiliated Barrett off with Sweet Chin Music and plays to the crowd.

Jeremy Borash is backstage with Tensai and Sakamoto. Tensai says that he will cut a swath of carnage across Chicago and the unfortunate souls who engage him in the six-pack challenge. Tensai says no one is leaving as Intercontinental Champion if not him.

Up next is the update on Triple H as we go to commercial.

Back from break and we get the video recap of Triple H’s rampage last week and his eventual arrest on site. Jim Cornette emerges and informs the crowd that out of the goodness of his heart and for the sake of business, Triple H will NOT be terminated, nor suspended, but will be instead BANNED from the arena until the elimination match at Extreme Rules. The crowd boos and we move on.

We go to the ring and out comes Shelton Benjamin, then MVP and finally Kofi Kingston. We go back to commercial as Kofi scrambles to the ring.

MVP def. SHELTON BENJAMIN and KOFI KINGSTON

An outstanding 15-minute match that came really close to stealing the show. Finish came as Kofi connected with a breathtaking Trouble In Paradise from the top rope, sending a staggering Benjamin into the path of MVP and the Play of the Day. MVP takes advantage of a momentarily incapacitated Kingston to make the cover of Benjamin and get the three. Kofi Kingston will go one on one with MVP next week on Monday Night RAW.

We go backstage with Alex Riley and Maria discussing Extreme Rules. Drew McIntyre shoulder bumps Riley and tells him not to get too excited about getting to the Six-Pack Challenge. McIntyre tells Riley that there’s a reason his theme song is titled “Broken Dreams”. Riley slaps the hell out of McIntyre and tells him he see him at ringside. McIntyre seethes as we go to break.

DREW MCINTYRE def. ALEX RILEY to qualify for the SIX-PACK CHALLENGE

Finish comes as McIntyre punts Riley in the head as he climbs back into the ring and drills him with Future Shock for the win. Drew McIntyre becomes the first participant to qualify for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship.

We get a promo with Chris Jericho backstage in the parking lot. Jericho tells Randy Orton that he is more than healthy enough to compete in his tournament semifinal tonight, so Randy won’t have to be concerned about competing for the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules, because he will prevent that from happening tonight.

Jericho turns his attention to CM Punk and tells him that he will embarrass The Second City Savior in his own hometown to become the World Heavyweight Champion for a seventh time. Jericho says there will be a contract signing next week and that he fully intends to be there across the table from Punk.

Finally, Jericho speaks out on Triple H and tells The Game that despite the 13 stitches in his head and the Grade III concussion he endured at his hands last week, he’s ignoring doctor’s orders and forging ahead with his match tonight because nothing short of overnight hospitalization was going to keep him from heading into Extreme Rules and taking what is rightfully his. Jericho insists that he’s the Best In The World at what he does and tells Hunter he’d be better off staying in jail, because if Jericho DOES come away with the World Title at Extreme Rules, Triple H will NEVER....EE-EEE-EEEEVER get his hands on the gold--A-GAIN!!! Jericho storms off and we go commercial.

Back from the break and Tensai charges to the ring, shoving Sakamoto with such force that the poor lackey goes flying off the stage and into the orchestra pit. Tensai seems unfazed by this turn of events. As EMTs tend to the fallen doorman, out comes Christian. The bell rings and here we go.

CHRISTIAN def. TENSAI to qualify for the SIX-PACK CHALLENGE

Tensai dominated a good portion of this match, even standing unflinchingly as Christian ran through him full steam with a Spear. Somehow, some way, Christian manages to slide out of an attempted Train Wreck and into position for the Killswitch. Captain Charisma quickly clambers to the top rope and connects with a beautiful Frog Splash to pick up the stunning 1-2-3. Christian now joins Drew McIntyre in the Six-Pack Challenge at Extreme Rules, with four vacant spots to fill.

Cornette is backstage with Hawkins and a visibly humiliated Wade Barrett. As Cornette tries to run damage control on Wade’s deflated pride, The Miz walks in and Cornette officially welcomes him to the team. Cornette says he just made a call to the Board of Directors and got clearance for the five of them to demonstrate their dominance in a 5-on-5 elimination match for the main event next week against five randomly selected members of the RAW roster.

Back at the entrance ramp and staff doctors are still tending to the unconscious Sakamoto. EMTs load him onto the stretcher, but the gurney tips over, spilling this poor, unfortunate man back into the floor. They have now rigged up a loading ramp into a waiting ambulance on the stage. The stretcher makes it into the loading dock, but as the doors close, the emergency brake fails and the ambulance rolls across the stage and into the orchestra pit on the opposite side. The momentum behind the roll sends the ambulance onto its roof, leaving all four tires in the air. This could be a long, long night for Sakamoto.

We go backstage and Cornette is taking another call. Jim is clearly displeased upon finding out that STEPHANIE MCMAHON RETURNS next week and she’s lifting both the arena ban and the No-Contact Ban on TRIPLE H. THE GAME WILL BE BACK IN THE BUILDING NEXT WEEK ON RAW. Nowhere to Run...

DAVID OTUNGA def. SLYCK WAGNER BROWN and ROB VAN DAM

The Underground King was impressive in his WWE debut, even surprising Otunga with an Appreciation Bomb and nearly upsetting RVD with a Haterbreaker. The finish, however, came as RVD nailed a Five-Star Frog Splash. Otunga slid back into the ring and tossed Van Dam to the barricade before hurriedly cover SWB for the three count. Otunga and RVD will go head to head next week on RAW to fill another spot at Extreme Rules.

We get a full video package of WWE’s weeklong visit to the United Kingdom, with stops in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dublin, Belfast, Cardiff and Manchester.

Back from break and Carlito is on his way to the ring. He grabs a mic and promises the same result as last week, the only difference being that this week will see him fill another spot in the Six-Pack Challenge at Extreme Rules. Rey Mysterio makes his way out and the match begins.

REY MYSTERIO def. CARLITO to qualify for the SIX-PACK CHALLENGE

Carlito appeared destined to seal up another spot at the PPV after connecting with a nasty Backstabber that sent Mysterio rolling out of the ring. Carlito pursues, unaware that Mysterio has snagged one of his apples. Carlito chases Mysterio back into the ring and ends up with a face full of apple spit in his face. The borrowed time opens the window for Mysterio to hit a drop toe hold and connect with a 619. Mysterio retreats to the top turnbuckle and executes a flawless 450 Splash and picks up the duke. The six-pack challenge will now feature Rey Mysterio, Drew McIntyre and Christian in addition to three other superstars to be named later.

We get a split screen of a clearly injured Jericho and Randy Orton headed to the ring as we go to our final break.

CHRIS JERICHO def. RANDY ORTON to advance to the World Championship Match at Extreme Rules

As Orton enters, Jim Cornette emerges and informs The Viper that this Semifinal Match will now be a Lumberjack match. Out comes Camp Cornette, including Curt Hawkins and a noticeable absence of any friendly faces for either Jericho OR Orton. A terrific 20-minute contest that culminates with Orton blocking a Codebreaker and blindsiding Jericho with an RKO. Orton sought to punt Jericho from concussion into oblivion, when Barrett, Ziggler, Miz, Rhodes and Lesnar all jumped the apron.

Orton meets each and every one of them with an RKO, ending with an emphatic RKO on Lesnar after battling out of an F5. Orton resumes his attempted Punt, but on the charge, Jericho’s quick reflexes stun Orton with a jaw-jacking Codebreaker. Jericho crawls to the cover and picks up the final win of the tournament.

After the match, Jericho crawls up the entrance ramp but is met by an atrocious Roundhouse Kick. CM Punk stares down at his opponent for Extreme Rules. Lesnar and company begin another mugging, this time against Randy Orton. Punk rushes down to make the save, but 5-on-2 still isn’t quite the level playing field needed to overcome the onslaught. Batista and HBK run down to even the odds slightly more, but eventually the 5th man catches up with the resistance. Batista and Orton brawl into the crowd with Barrett and Rhodes while HBK fights up the entrance ramp with Dolph Ziggler, which leaves Punk to fend for himself against The Miz and Brock Lesnar.

After several moments of holding his own, Punk drops Miz with the GTS, but walks into an F5. Lesnar once again admires the carnage. As Lesnar goes to leave the ring however, the LIGHTS GO DOWN and a GONG SOUNDS. The lights come back up and THE UNDERTAKER stands directly in front of Brock Lesnar. After a brief, intense staredown, The Undertaker makes a cut-throat signal and sets Lesnar up for the Tombstone, Lesnar escapes out the back door, shoves Taker and slides out of the ring up the entrance ramp.

Undertaker kneels and salutes in the ring as the arena is flooded in a pale blue and rain begins to pour from the rafters as RAW goes off the air.
